A 13-year-old girl was in critical condition Monday evening, July 25, after being shot in a backyard on Fowler Street. Evanston police ask anyone with information to contact them at 847-866-5000 or 5040.
Evanston Police Commander Ryan Glew and public information officer said the girls were taken to a local hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Glew alerted the public to the shooting in a series of seven tweets, between 8.19pm and 10.07pm, which say officers went to the Fowler Street yard around 6.20pm and found the girl with a gunshot wound when they arrived. .
The second tweet said, “Initial investigation revealed that an unknown offender fired a gun over a fence in a backyard that was occupied by several young teenagers,” and that the 13-year-old was the person known to she was hurt
Police have not made any arrests and are advising people who don’t live in the area to avoid it.
