A 42-year-old New Holstein man was in critical but stable condition Monday after an early morning vehicle crash on CTH A north of Foundry Road in the town of New Holstein.

According to Lt. Eric Voland of the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 2:37 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of an overturned vehicle on fire in a field with a man trapped inside. vehicle

Police, fire and emergency medical units responded quickly and were able to extricate him from the burning vehicle. Lifesaving efforts were made and he was airlifted by ThedaStar helicopter from Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.

The driver of the vehicle, a 33-year-old Sheboygan woman, was arrested on a charge of operating while under the influence causing injury.

Sheriff’s deputies at the scene were members of the New Holstein Fire Department, the St. Anna, New Holstein First Responders, Kiel Ambulance, New Holstein Police Department, Kiel Police Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.

The Wisconsin State Patrol is also assisting with the crash investigation. Sheriff’s deputies are still actively investigating this incident; therefore, the names of those involved are not being released at this time, Voland said.
