The Jackson County Republican Central Committee has officially rejected the results of the 2020 presidential election.
The Republican Party’s local executive committee passed a resolution on July 8 in support of a Texas Republican convention that claims President Joe Biden’s election victory is illegitimate.
This was followed on July 12 by a unanimous vote of the Jackson County Republican Central Committee in favor of the resolution.
Republican and local businessman Alan DeBoer, a former state senator and Ashland mayor, said he believes the resolution is “totally wrong.”
“I am totally against the position of the Republican leaders,” he said.
While DeBoer decried some last-minute tactics across the country by Republicans and Democrats to help sway the election, he said, “It was a landslide victory for President Biden.”
DeBoer said he has yet to see any real evidence of the kind of fraudulent election behavior claimed by many of his fellow Republicans.
“I have the utmost faith in the electoral process,” he said.
DeBoer warned that if people continue to question this process with unsubstantiated claims, it will be harmful to the country.
“There are far more important things to deal with as a party,” he said.
The resolution calls into question the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency even though Biden won both the national vote and the Electoral College vote.
Rendell Embertson, chairman of the Jackson County Republican Central Committee, said it’s an “interesting issue” whether he personally considers Biden’s presidency legitimate.
“They put him in as president,” he said. “I pray for him.”
He said he also prays for Gov. Kate Brown and other Democrats in elected office.
Embertson said there are still a number of court cases around the country that could eventually show problems with the election process.
Even in Oregon, Embertson said there are dead voters, voters who have moved and double votes that appear to be counted.
“There are some pretty big holes in the election process,” he said.
Embertson said the resolution is more about trying to clean up the election process rather than a repeat of the 2020 election.
He cited a “documentary” called “2000 Mules” alleging a ballot-trafficking scam in the 2020 election, a film full of allegations that left former Attorney General Bill Barr, appointed by President Donald Trump, “impressed” trump
The resolution of the Jackson County Republican Central Committee states: “The documentary ‘2000 Mules’ irrefutably demonstrates that voter fraud occurred during the 2020 election in the form of ballot box-trafficking “.
He continues: “We reject the certified results of the 2020 presidential election and maintain that incumbent President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the American people. We strongly urge Republicans to work to ensure the integrity of the election and correct all the frauds and weaknesses detected in the 2020 elections.”
Although the settlement is based on the allegations in the 2020 movie “Mules,” Embertson said he believes other court cases will show the merits of those allegations.
He cited a recent Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling that said the state can’t have a majority of ballot boxes and that a voter can’t get someone else to turn in their absentee ballot.
Despite questions about the integrity of elections in some states, Embertson said he finds no fault with the Jackson County elections office.
Tonia Moro, chair of the Jackson County Democrats, said the local Republican Party has embraced the “psychosis of the big lie” that continues to support Trump’s treacherous intent to cheat, lie and steal to stay in office. power
“What a sad and shameful thing,” he said. “There is probably no hope for the local party leadership; we can only hope they move to Texas.”
Moro said local Republican leaders appear to be calling for a fix in the 2020 election, which she said could lead to intimidation and violence.
“Our community must not even tolerate those who are enabling this madness,” he said.
