The Chief Executive published an executive order opening a new public tender to award six gaming concessions. Bidders can submit their proposals between July 29 and September 14.
In the order published today in the Official Gazette, the authorities noted that the duration of the concessions is limited to 10 years, as established by the new approved gambling law.
The city’s current six gaming concessions and sub-concessions will expire at the end of this year.
The order also stated that all interested parties should submit their bids by 17:45 on September 14 with a security deposit of at least MOP 10 million (US$1.25 million).
According to the order, the bids will be evaluated according to seven criteria: the amount of the premiums proposed by the bidders; its plan to explore non-Chinese markets; their experiences in casino gaming and related fields; the returns on your gaming and non-gaming investments; your casino management plan; his proposal for surveillance and prevention of illicit activities in casinos; and social responsibilities.
The administration announced yesterday (Wednesday) in a separate executive order from the Chief Executive that a commission was set up in charge of the public bidding process for gambling concessions. The eight-member committee includes Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon; Secretary of Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong; and Social Affairs and Culture Secretary Elsie Ao Ieong U.
The committee is holding a press conference today at 3:00 p.m. and is expected to explain the details of the bidding process and schedule.
