Colyer earns another Rogues win: Medford News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News

A first-inning grand slam by CJ Colyer highlighted another dominant effort by the Medford Rogues Friday night as the Rogues scored in all but one at-bat to win against TKB Baseball, 13-1, at Harry & David Field.

Reece MacRae added a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning and Medford mustered nine total hits against the visitors. Grayson Grinsell contributed two doubles, while Trey Nelson and Cole Arnold also finished with a pair of hits for the Rogues.

Medford was scheduled to wrap up its summer wood bat season at 7:35 p.m. Saturday night at Harry & David Field.

Adam Shew picked up the pitching win Friday after tossing four scoreless innings with two walks and six strikeouts. Gavin Schmidt allowed three hits in two scoreless innings to close out the win, striking out three with a walk.

The Rogues (24-16-1) have now allowed two runs or fewer in their last four games, with double-digit strikeouts in nine straight contests despite a pair of recent seven-inning games shortened to deal with hot conditions extremes here in the south. Oregon.

The quick-hitting Rogues saw Emiliano Alarcon draw a walk and go to third on Grinsell’s first double of the night to put TKB Baseball on its heels early Friday. After Ben Pajak drew a one-out walk, Colyer blasted a full-count pitch over the fence for a 4-0 lead.

Medford tacked on two more runs in the second when Alarcon singled home Arnold and later scored on a wild pitch.

In the fourth inning, Medford extended its lead to 9-0 when Pajak scored on a wild pitch and Nelson singled in Colyer and Tyler Peterson.
