A spectator watching WCAU looked a little too closely at a wide shot the station was airing during its coverage of the shooting of two Philadelphia police officers on Independence Day

While the station was showing an apartment complex where police were searching for suspects, a local man came forward to show what was going on in the individual apartments and found a couple setting off their own fireworks in a way that the FCC did not would have approved Then he tweeted it.

“Breaking news. Wait until you all see this,” the person called Ty said on Twitter as he got a closer look at the apartments shown on air. “Do you see this?” he asks as his shot lands on a couple. “This is supposed to be breaking news. This is supposed to be breaking news right now. Are you kidding me?”

from you tweet it has over 100,000 likes at the time of writing this article.

A quick check by TVEyes showed that the station stayed on the shot for about 30 seconds before going to the recording of the shooting scene. In the defense of the station there is little chance that they saw what was happening.

*To be clear, the station was in wide shot the whole time. The guy who tweeted the NSFW video shot it from his TV screen. This is how he was able to capture the enlarged view. Only the first shot was never broadcast.
