Waterbury police have arrested a man in connection with an attempted armed home invasion, according to police.
Police received information that a suspect was attempting to force entry into a home on Valentino Drive with a firearm while the family was inside. Officers responded to the scene and collected evidence, they said.
While patrolling the area, police found a man returning to a disabled vehicle matching the description of the vehicle involved and later confirmed his involvement in the attempted home invasion, police said.
Police identified the man as 36-year-old Wayne Early. He was arrested after police found two firearms and other items of “evidential value” involved in the attempted home invasion.
Early was charged with criminal attempted home invasion and numerous weapons charges. He is being held on $1 million bond.
Early has a prior conviction making him ineligible to possess a handgun or a handgun, according to state statutes.
Police are currently working to obtain “numerous other warrants for Early’s arrest in connection with his involvement in several other armed robbery incidents,” Waterbury police said.
