BREAKING Houston: Texans reach settlement with 30 accusers in Deshaun Watson case

The 30 women with complaints against the Houston Texans organization over its alleged role in the sexual misconduct of quarterback Deshaun Watson have settled their claims, Houston attorney Tony Buzbee announced Friday.

Buzbee said: “I will have no further comment on the allegations or the role of the Texans, other than to say that there is a stark contrast in the way the Texans handled these allegations and the way Watson’s team has done..”

Watson, traded from the Texans to the Cleveland Browns this offseason, remains under NFL scrutiny for his alleged behavior, with several stories suggesting he could be suspended for the entire season. The Texans will now avoid further civil litigation because of the settlements, with the amounts paid to each whistleblower to be kept confidential.

Watson, a three-time Pro Bowler and former Houston team leader, was accused by more than two dozen women in 2021 of criminal misconduct during scheduled massage sessions. Watson and his lawyer, Rusty Hardin, have proclaimed his innocence, with Hardin noting that the player has not been charged with a criminal offense.
