One dies as factions clash at PDP meeting

During an interview with our correspondent, the spokesman of the Osun command of the Nigeria Civil Defense and Security Corps, Olabisi Atanda, confirmed that someone was shot at the meeting.

She said: “There was a PDP meeting where there was a misunderstanding about the money released for the last governorship election.

“There was an altercation among people at the meeting and one of the attendees brought the police to the meeting to make an arrest.

“It was at that time that a person named Kuranga was hit by a bullet. I cannot confirm whether he died or not. The incident caused a stampede in a market in the area as people ran in different directions. But the peace has returned.”

Efforts to get the police reaction to the incident proved futile as calls to the Osun Police Command Spokesperson Yemisi Opalola rang while she did not respond to a text sent to her send on the subject at the time of submitting this report.

But the Osun PDP Director of Media and Strategy, Oladele Oluwabamiji, accused the All Progressives Congress leadership in the state of bringing thugs to the PDP meeting.

Oluwabamiji, who said the House Minority Leader, Kofoworola Babajide, was at the meeting, further disclosed that the thugs who invaded the meeting were gun-toting with the police.

He confirmed the attack on the residence of the lawmaker’s father, Babajide. which he said was swept away and fingered the perpetrators as thugs working for the APC.
