Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren dismissed reports that Democrats are giving up on coronavirus testing to allow the maximum number of senators to vote Saturday night on the party’s tax and social spending bill.
“No. And oh please,” Warren said when asked if she was told not to get tested for COVID to participate in Saturday’s “Vote-a-Rama.” “Republicans are worried about Democrats showing up with COVID, Republicans who wouldn’t wear masks. Republicans who didn’t get tested, Republicans who tested positive and still showed up. I’m telling you, they just know no limits . on his political skill.”
Warren’s comments come amid rumors that Democrats relaxed coronavirus testing to ensure all senators would be present to pass the Inflation Relief Act as part of a marathon voting schedule that will take place during all night saturday
The reports have drawn criticism from Republicans on social media, including Rep. Thomas Massie.

The vote total was 51 to 50, with Vice President Kamala Harris breaking the tie.

Harris was not expected to be needed, because several Republicans were out of town and missed the votes that took place earlier Saturday. But all the GOP members were back in town at the end of the vote Saturday evening.

“What’s the vote-a-rama going to be like? It’s going to be like hell,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, RS.C., said at a news conference Thursday. “They deserve this. As much as I admire Joe Manchin and Sinema for standing up to the radical left at times, they are promoting legislation that will make the average person’s life more difficult.”
