Welcome to The Times of Israel’s Daily Briefing, your 15-minute audio update on what’s happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world, Sunday through Thursday.

Editor David Horovitz and military correspondent Emanuel Fabian join anchor Amanda Borschel-Dan today, Tisha B’Av.

We have entered the third day of Operation Alba. It’s a rapidly changing story, and listeners are encouraged to stay updated on the Times of Israel website, where our live blog actively reports on events as they happen.

Horovitz begins the episode by reminding listeners of the steps that led the IDF to launch the current operation and gives an overview of what has happened since then.

Fabian explains the stated objectives of the operation and discusses any potential threats to Ben Gurion Airport so far.

Horovitz discusses the closing of political ranks in support of the operation and Sunday morning’s visit to the Temple Mount by far-right MP Itamar Ben Gvir.
