Rajya Sabha members to bid farewell to President Naidu
Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker and Speaker M. Venkaiah Naidu will bid farewell to the Upper House on Monday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top leaders. Jagdeep Dhankhar will take oath of office on August 11, reports news agency PTI.
According to PTI, sources said that due to Muharram and Raksha Bandhan, there will be no session of the House on Tuesday and Thursday. He said that another farewell ceremony would be organized for Naidu by all members of the House on Monday evening at the GMC Balayogi auditorium. The Prime Minister will present a memento to Naidu while the Deputy Speaker of the Rajya Sabha will deliver the farewell address.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s two-day visit to Odisha
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will pay a day-long visit to Odisha on August 8, reports news agency PTI. During this he will visit the birthplace of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and attend the 75th anniversary of ‘Prajatantra’, a newspaper published in the Odia language.
After reaching Bhubaneshwar, Shah will also visit Shri Lingaraja Temple.
Later, the Home Minister will address the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ on the occasion of the newspaper’s 75th anniversary at Cuttack Indoor Stadium.
Shah will also release a book on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening.
