In response to the attack on author Salman Rushdie on Friday, Muslim scholar Dr. Qanta Ahmed emphasized the importance of protecting the “language”. On Sunday’s “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Dr. Ahmed slammed identity politics and canceled culture for defying free speech and threatening to silence Americans, urging Americans to protect language or “be speechless”.

SALMAN RUSHDIE TURNS OFF FAN AND SPEAKS OUT AFTER STABBING, AGENT SAYS

Dr. QANTA AHMED: I am very concerned that now that we are seeing this event right here in our state just hours away, a symbolic assassination almost took place. We are very grateful to the doctors who are saving the author’s life, but every time we are stripped of the language to talk about it. We know that when some of our most vocal members of Congress, who like me, are Muslims, make openly anti-Semitic comments to criticize them now they are labeled as Islamophobic in America. And this is a barrier that the Democratic Party itself has not faced. We also know that we live in a culture where the rules of identity are above all else. So people are afraid to even label, say, the execution of four Muslims in New Mexico by another Muslim, which is probably a sectarian killing, as something related to these ideologies. Without language, we will be as speechless as a potentially iconic author almost became recently. And we’re so glad to hear that Salman Rushdie can actually talk, which is a relief that he’s off the ventilator and can talk. Therefore, if we give up language, only the language that the Islamists say is okay will be allowed.
