Arklatex Politics: Security of the Capitol | National News

A few years ago bollards were installed at all entrances to the State Capitol in Baton Rouge. Now, the evolution of security at the capitol building continues.

“And so the next big part of that evolution is the capital safety council — that’s a new legislative panel,” Jeremy Alford said.

Make no mistake, the new security detail was partly inspired by the violence going on around the country.

“And obviously what we saw in the riots on Jan. 6 perpetuated the need to be able to improve our security,” said Homeland Security chief Sen. Barry Milligan of Shreveport, “which includes the Pentagon bunker where many of us live and there is no safety. at all.”
