OMAHA, Neb.—FBI Director Christopher Wray stood in front of huge paintings of an eagle and an American flag at the field office here last week to talk about how agents had used an Irish tip to help save a local hospital from a ransomware attack.
It was the kind of threat that Mr. Wray has made it a priority of the office to counter. But the first two questions from the press were about former President Donald Trump. Two days earlier, 1,500 miles away in Florida, FBI agents had seized more than two dozen boxes from Mr. Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in a criminal investigation into the handling of classified documents there.
