The U.S. economy is showing troubling signs as the Commerce Department Thursday announced it shrank at an annual rate of 1.4 percent in the year’s first quarter, something that had not happened since the pandemic recession hit in 2020. Inflation and a rise in borrowing costs are also causing concerns. Diane Swonk, of the economic services firm Grant Thornton, joins Judy Woodruff to discuss.
