Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig announced Wednesday, August 3 that the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a report of animal neglect. In the statement, Hartwig says the Sheriff’s Office received information from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in late July about possible hoarding and neglect of rabbits, poultry and other animals at a township farm of Schleswig. Hartwig goes on to say that investigators obtained probable cause and obtained a search warrant for the property.
