Calcutta: Veteran actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mithun Chakraborty on Wednesday claimed that more than three dozen Trinamool Congress (TMC) legislators are in touch with the saffron party.

While speaking to the media, he first asked, “Do you want to hear breaking news?”

“Right now, 38 TMC MLAs have very good relations with us, of which 21 are in direct (contact with us),” Chakraborty claimed.

Today, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the central government of trying to defame the TMC government in the state.

Addressing a meeting in Kolkata, he said, “They (BJP) have no job, their job is to take over state governments through 3-4 agencies. They have taken Maharashtra, now Jharkhand, but Bengal has defeated”.

“It is not easy to break Bengal as you have to fight the Royal Bengal Tiger first,” he claimed.

The TMC government is under fire for the recent arrest of its minister and senior leader Partha Chatterjee in connection with a school recruitment scam.
