EAA 2022 closes with new records

OSHKOSH (NBC 26) – EAA AirVenture attracts more people and planes each year. The year 2022 ended with record numbers.

The theme of this year’s event was “Unlike Anything Else,” according to EAA President John Pelton, the event lived up to the name.

“It’s been unlike anything else. The number of records we’ve achieved this year is absolutely incredible,” Pelton said.

Wittman Regional Airport once again broke the record for the world’s busiest air traffic control tower during EAA week. One of the ways to achieve this; ushering in vintage aircraft, which was also a record as 2022 saw the oldest aircraft both in the sky and on the ground.

According to Pelton, the biggest record broken this year was the number of people who attended.

“The attendance here was a record. By far the biggest year we’ve had at EAA. A total of 650,446 guests stopped by this week,” Pelton said.

Guests agreed that this year was unlike any other.
