Suspects in Sand Springs stolen car chase in custody

Three suspects in a high-speed chase are now in custody after hiding in a wooded area from authorities near Keystone Lake in Pawnee County.

According to the Sand Springs Police Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, three suspects, two men and a woman, led officers on a long chase after a robbery at Sand Springs Tractor Supply.

The pursuit began in Sand Springs and progressed south until the suspect began heading west on Highway 412 toward Cleveland, Oklahoma. An OHP officer was able to spin the suspect’s vehicle, but the driver recovered and rammed the car of a pursuing officer.

A Sand Springs officer shot at that car, but it is unknown if anyone was hit. The suspect then began driving the wrong way on the 412 before driving into a wooded area where they abandoned the SUV.

Authorities set up a perimeter and searched for the suspects for hours with K-9s, drones and officers from multiple agencies. An off-duty officer spotted the three suspects and law enforcement was able to take the suspects into custody shortly before 6 p.m.

One of the women was taken to a local hospital to be treated for dehydration.

Sand Springs police confirmed that no officers were injured during the pursuit.
