AUSTINTOWN — Claiming he’s part of a janitorial service, a Youngstown man accused of breaking into an Austintown home bound his case over to a grand jury Wednesday.
Alexander Solomon, 30, of East Lucius Avenue, faces charges of aggravated robbery and drug possession, court records show. He also faces one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He remains in the Mahoning County Jail on $20,000 bond.
According to a police report, the homeowner arrived at his home on Mahoning Avenue around 7:30 p.m. Sunday. She found the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets open and a man, wearing only underwear and a basketball shirt, in the house.
The resident told police the man claimed to be part of a janitorial service, but the resident, who lives alone, was not hired to clean, according to the report.
The report says the resident found clothing, including shoes and jeans, that were not his strewn around the house. The homeowner also told police he found an empty yogurt container that was full before he left and a microwaveable tub of ice cream that was in the freezer.
Behind the home, police found a blue cart containing personal items, including a backpack containing four syringes and a debit card with the intruder’s name on it, according to the report. Also in the cart was a jacket, in which police found a plastic bag containing a white crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, according to the report.
