Breaking news: Andrea Dovizioso to retire from MotoGP after 2022 San Marino GP; Cal Crutchlow will finish the season

Andrea Dovizioso, who currently rides for WithU Yamaha RNF Racing, will not finish this MotoGP season. The decision has just been made public by Yamaha, and the Italian will stop racing after the Grand Prix of San Marino and della Riviera di Rimini, exactly one year after joining Yamaha’s MotoGP programme. Cal Crutchlow will take the Italian’s place.

This was the Italian’s second time pairing up with Yamaha in the class, having raced with Tech3 in 2012 – then Yamaha’s satellite team – a season in which he took six third places and fourth in the final standings.

Driving a factory YZR-M1 in the RNF framework, the plan was to be with the team for the entire season, but he recently decided to end his career at his home race at Misano.

It will then be Cal Crutchlow who will fill in for the driver for the remainder of the season from here on out.
