5 people arrested in Hartford after shooting, chase on I-84 – Hartford Courant

Five people were in custody Thursday evening after Hartford police heard gunshots and followed a fleeing vehicle down Interstate 84 until it eventually stopped in Manchester, police said.

Detectives, who were in an unmarked police vehicle, were in the area of ​​Broad Street just before 6pm when they heard shots fired and saw the shots being fired from a white Honda Passport that was reported it stolen from Meriden, police said.

Detectives followed the passport and saw it enter Interstate 84 west, police said. Other arriving units attempted to stop the passport, but the operator continued down the road toward Farmington, then exited and re-entered to head east, police said.

The chase continued into Manchester, where the passport was stopped and the five people were arrested after a foot chase, police said. The five people were not identified.

There were no injuries as a result of the pursuit, but during the chase, a female victim of gunfire arrived at an area hospital for treatment, police said. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening at this time, police said.

Police said a search warrant is being drawn up for the passport in an “attempt to locate the firearm used”.
