Commuter Alert: Shuttle buses replacing some Friday afternoon Blue Line service on the MBTA
EAST BOSTON – Blue Line riders faced a tough commute Friday afternoon as the MBTA announced a service disruption.
Shuttle buses replaced service between Wonderland Station and Orient Heights Station due to a disabled train near Suffolk Downs Station.
The outage occurred after a piece of metal fell. A passenger shared a video from the station. He told Boston 25 that when the train pulled into the station, the large piece of metal fell toward the top of the train and caused sparks.
He also said that a person waiting on the platform to board the train was almost hit by that piece of metal. It is not clear what exactly it is. But the T saying the train was disabled somehow.
The Blue Line had experienced delays of up to 15 minutes due to that disabled train near Suffolk Downs.
Shuttle buses used to operate but are now being phased out.
