Seminole County high school student arrested for having gun on campus – WFTV

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lyman High School student was arrested Friday for having an unloaded gun on campus, according to school officials.

No specific threats were ever made on campus, the school principal said in an email to parents.

Around 1:30 p.m., Longwood Police Department school resource officers received a report of a 15-year-old student causing a disturbance with a school employee, according to police.

During officers’ interaction with the student, he attempted to place a backpack in a different classroom while speaking with officers. The student became disruptive with employees and refused to cooperate with school resource officers and became combative with officers before being taken into custody.

“One of the top priorities of Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) and all of our staff here at Lake Howell High School is to create a safe, positive and focused learning environment,” the email reads. “The welfare of your child is of primary concern and we take these incidents very seriously.”
