SUBJECT OF THE WATER SITUATION AT THE FORUM TOMORROW AT MIDDAY

Communities, like individuals, often settle into a condition of self-satisfaction. This is often due to the prosperous situation of individual citizens who find very little time to devote to the problems of the community.

Medford today lacks the support of its citizens on civic issues and the authorities are reluctant to proceed with much-needed improvements. The development of the water system is most necessary, and if this improvement is to be made so that an adequate supply of water will be available to all parts of the city by next summer, the citizens of Medford have to help the authorities resolve this issue at the earliest possible date.

Water system expansion and other community issues will be considered at the Medford Chamber of Commerce forum at the Medford Hotel tomorrow at noon.

PARAMOUNT WEEK FROM SEPTEMBER 3 TO 9

CM Hill, director of the Portland subsidiary of the Famous Players-Laskey corporation, distributor of the famous Paramount pictures, is in Medford and southern Oregon in the interest of his company.

September 3-9 is Paramount’s fifth annual week, when they present “the best movies in the best theaters.” Page and Rialto theaters use Paramount pictures.

The Paramount picture on today’s page is George Ade’s “Our Leading Citizen,” with Thos. Meighan in the title role.

Mr. Hill says some of the new Paramounts are “The Dictator,” by Richard Harding Davis, “Blood and Sand,” by Ibanez, author of “The Four Horsemen,” “The Valley of Silent Man,” one by James Oliver. Curwood’s best pictures, “The Pride of Palomar,” one of Peter B. Kyne’s popular books, and the famous classic, “The Old Homestead.”
