YONKERS, WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY: Patrick Reddon, a 37-year-old homeless man living in the city of Yonkers had been charged with attempted assault 1 a class B felony in addition to other felonies.
On Sunday, August 7, 2022, Yonkers Police officers responded to 125 Saratoga Avenue on a report of a domestic dispute.
A 34-year-old woman reported that her ex-boyfriend entered her apartment and left. Later that morning, Reddon returned to the scene and again engaged the woman in a dispute and called 911. Officers entered the apartment and located the couple arguing.
YPD officers allege that Reddon resisted arrest, which caused him to “bump into an adjacent bed, where he then grabbed a box cutter.”
YPD said Reddon cut off two of the arresting officers. Eventually, an officer opted to deploy his taser, subduing the suspect.
COMMUNICATION PROCEDURES NOT FOLLOWED:
The Yonkers Police Department later selectively sent press releases to certain favored news organizations, raising eyebrows from community advocates who wondered if there was some kind of cover-up.
YPD Commissioner Christopher Sapienza and Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano are not releasing the cause of death at this time.
Condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Redon…
