In a historically wild review published Wednesday, book critic Dwight Garner writes that, essentially, Breaking History is one of the worst things he has ever read. Of course, The New York Times doesn’t just tell its audience, “This book sucks, don’t buy it unless you plan to use the pages to line your birdcage,” and so, it explained Garner. Here are some of the things he has to say about the memoir and the guy who, with the help of a ghostwriter, released it to the world:

Unsurprisingly, as Garner points out, Kushner seems completely unaware that he got the White House gig for one reason only, and it’s not because he’s a child genius. Garner says that Kushner “writes as if he believed that foreign dignitaries (and less than dignitaries) appreciated him in the White House because he was the guy with fresh ideas, the starting point, the dimpled finder” and “gives away little conscience”. that he had a lawsuit because, as a landslide of other reports has shown, he was in over his head, unable to curb his greed, a cocky young real estate heir who unrolled many a Big Mac alongside his father. Act.” He seems to be totally oblivious to why people who were actually qualified for his job, or, you know, somewhat qualified, this being the Trump administration, after all, couldn’t stand him. For starters , “almost completely ignores the chaos, the alienation of allies, the breaking of laws and rules, the flirting with dictators, the global loss of America’s moral leadership, etc., ad infinitum.” And despite that the former first son-in-law and Ivanka Trump They are distancing themselves from the former president, Garner reports that “Kushner’s loyalty to Trump remains absolute.”

(Kushner the younger previously insisted, according to Christie’s 2019 memoir, that these things were “family matters.”[s]”, and not something for the government to poke its nose in.) And if that doesn’t bother you, in reflecting on its relationship with Mohammed bin Salman, At one point, Kushner told readers that he wasn’t willing to turn his back on the Saudi crown prince over a miserable kidnapping and dismemberment.
Of that pesky little insurrection business? According to Garner, the 492-page book “ends with Kushner suggesting that he was not aware of the events of January 6 until the afternoon. He mostly avoids talking about false claims of voter fraud,” Garner adds. “He seems to have no beliefs beyond carefully managed appearances and the art of dealing. He wants to be on top of things, this coach, but he doesn’t want to get to the bottom of anything.”
