The boat launch at Rocky Hill Ferry Park was closed Saturday after the two vehicles entered the river Friday night or early Saturday morning, according to the Rocky Hill Fire Department.

The vehicles were “sitting at the bottom of the river leaking gas” for a period of time, Rocky Hill Fire Chief Michael P. Garrahy said in a statement Saturday.

No one was injured in connection with the overturned cars, Garrahy said in his statement.

The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection’s Emergency Response Unit responded to the scene and both vehicles were pulled from the river around 5 p.m., DEEP officials said .

“The environmental impact was negligible,” DEEP said.

The fire department, police department and DEEP were working at the scene, fire officials said.
