Emma Samms returns to Port Charles and General Hospital. Her fan-favorite character Holly Sutton was last seen on a video monitor being held captive by some bad guys and her loved ones were faced with the fact that Holly was dead. Needless to say, things are about to get interesting, especially for fans of Robert and Holly.

Samms was last seen on GH in 2020. According to Limit date, which broke the news of the casting, the actress hit the pause button on future performances after contracting COVID-19. Samms developed long-term symptoms of COVID, further preventing her from returning to the ABC soap.
Holly was last seen almost two years ago on September 18, 2020. She is now set to return to the airwaves in October. “I can’t believe it’s been 40 years since I first appeared on General Hospital and that I get to once again play the wonderful character of Holly Sutton,” said Samms. “No one is more interested in what has happened to her since we saw her two years ago, being held captive by a mysterious villain, than I am!”

Emma Samms debuted as Holly Sutton in the summer of 1982. The show was once again trying to find a leading lady for Anthony Geary (ex-Luke Spencer), who was still grieving the presumed death of his wife Laura Spencer ( Genie Francis). Luke and everyone else in Port Charles did not know that Laura was imprisoned on Cassadine Island.
The love story of Luke and Holly was recorded in the song Baby, Come to Me by Patti Austin and James Ingraham. The song had been released previously, but Luke and Holly’s storyline helped push the song to the top of the charts. Holly was revealed to be a con artist. She reformed, but her romance with Luke was cut short after he was believed to have died in an avalanche. Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) married his best friend’s girlfriend, pregnant with Luke’s child, to prevent her from being deported.

Holly lost Luke’s baby. She and Robert really fell in love. Luke came back from the dead and was devastated to learn that Robert and Holly had gotten married. Robert and Holly stayed together, which was lucky for many reasons, not the least of which was that Luke was single and was able to reunite with Laura when she came back from the dead.
Robert and Holly appeared as the show’s main couple and remained so until Samms left GH in the mid-1980s to play the role of Fallon Carrington on both Dynasty and the show’s spin-off, The Colbys. Samms has returned to GH many times over the years. Stay tuned for his return in October.
