“Officer Involved Shooting” in Thermopolis

A “critical incident” occurred on Canyon Hills Road in Thermopolis.

The City of Thermopolis confirms there was an “officer-involved shooting” at approximately 12:37 p.m. Local sources say the incident occurred at an RV parking lot on Canyon Hills Road.

The Hot Springs County Sheriff’s Office also confirms that a “critical incident” occurred and has asked the public to avoid the area.

A Thermopolis police officer was shot and airlifted to an area hospital.

There were allegedly two suspects, a man and a woman, who were involved in the incident. Both suspects are down and may be dead.

No additional information is available at this time regarding the incident or the condition of the officer and suspects. The city of Thermopolis says there is no threat to the community.
