The 19th is coming Tribeca Film Festival!
A feature-length documentary about the first three years of our non-profit newsroom, “breaking the news”, will be premiered at prestigious festival in mid-June.
The film, independently made by a fleet of Emmy- and Oscar-nominated directors and producers (Heather Courtney, Princess A. Hairston, Chelsea Hernandez and Diane Quon), follows Team 19 through the trials and tribulations of his first creation. days It documents some of the biggest stories of our lives, from the “handover” of COVID to the overarching of Roe, to the voter suppression and police killings that sparked an already consequential election year, to to the attack on LGBTQ+ rights at the national level. It also follows our search for culture, equity and capital in the midst of a news business in crisis, as well as our efforts to balance our personal lives, children and, of course, dogs, with the pressures of launching a start-up in a pandemic.

It took courage for the 19th team to let our guard down and allow the cameras into our personal and professional lives, knowing that our mistakes, our challenges, and our emotions would be visible to the world. The film is sometimes raw, always sincere and undeniably vulnerable. Above all, we hope it will be a service to our industry: a lucid picture of what it takes to challenge the status quo and break the mold in American media. “Breaking the News” will be screened multiple times at Tribeca, which is taking place. From June 7 to 18 in New York City.
