Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Orange County last night.
According to the FHP report, at approximately 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, a 2017 Ford Fusion driven by a 36-year-old Apopka man was traveling northbound on the Florida Turnpike approaching mile marker 259, south of State Highway 528A (West Oak Ridge Road). ) in the inner center lane.
At the same time, a 29-year-old Orlando man was walking eastbound and entered the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike, in the direct path of the Fusion.
The pedestrian was hit by the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver stayed at the scene and did not report any injuries to the FHP.
The accident remains under investigation.
The FHP did not release the names of the driver or the pedestrian.
