GRAVESEND, Brooklyn (WABC) — The NYPD now confirms that a woman caught on surveillance video being led into a car was not being kidnapped.
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman they say was abducted in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn early Friday morning.
According to police, a man approached the woman at the intersection of Avenue W and Stillwell Avenue around 1:45 a.m. and then led her into a minivan before driving away.
It turned out that the woman and the man in the video knew each other and both say no crime was committed.
Officials say no charges have been filed and their investigation is over.
Latavia Hinton says she had just gotten off the train when she said “something wasn’t right” and saw a woman running down the street with a van chasing her. He said, from what he saw, it didn’t look like the two knew each other.
“He literally runs out of his car, grabs her by the feet and throws her in the car,” Hinton said, “my girlfriend and I are running to the car, telling her to stop, we’re going to call the police. . “
