Two men were arrested Saturday for stealing items from numerous vehicles in Newington, police said.
The Newington Police Department was notified that two men were attempting to enter a resident’s locked vehicle in the area of Hartford Avenue at 4:54 a.m. Saturday.
Newington patrol officers responded to the call and located Artemis Sims, 37, of New Britain, and Daniel Pohl, 21, of Hartford, near the scene. According to police, the two men were working together to steal items from inside numerous unlocked vehicles in the city.
Pohl and Sims were later arrested, police said. Pohl’s charges include third-degree burglary, sixth-degree burglary, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and possession of marijuana over 1.5 ounces. Sims faces charges of third-degree burglary, third-degree burglary, three counts of third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary, third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit burglary.
Both men were being held on a total of $20,000 bond and were scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
“The Newington Police Department would like to remind residents to lock their car doors at night and to contact the Newington Police Department whenever they see anything suspicious,” police said in a statement Monday.
