SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – 22News is hearing from the experts Tuesday night, after Donald Trump was found guilty of sexually abusing advice columnist E. Jean Carroll in 1996.
Trump’s video deposition in rape lawsuit made public
In a trial that could haunt the former president as he campaigns to reclaim the seat as commander-in-chief, jurors awarded Carroll $5 million. The verdict was announced in a federal court in New York City on the first day of deliberations.
Jurors rejected Carroll’s claim that she was raped, but found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation of Carroll after she went public with her allegations.
22News spoke with political consultant Tony Cignoli about what we’ve seen play out: “Over the last few weeks, even while this case was ongoing, even while it was well informed, even after it was aired a disastrous deposition video; His numbers held up, but when it comes to a matchup, if it’s between Trump and Biden in Biden’s final analysis, here’s a chance. One in three women in the The United States has known sexual assault, and for that he was declared responsible.”
There is no chance that Trump will be criminally charged for attacking Carroll, as the legal deadline has long since passed.
