COLUMBUS – Devon Andrew Biggs, born Michele “Mandy” Biggs on September 21, 2007 took his journey to heaven on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. In his short life, he touched more people’s hearts than most of us will in a lifetime.
Devon was an amazing young man with the most sincere heart, loving soul, biggest smile and infectious laugh – never meeting a stranger and never leaving a friend.
In Devon’s 15 years with us, he was, among other things, an athlete. He participated in football, basketball and weightlifting, was on the chess team and ran track. His most outstanding achievement was winning his black belt in taekwondo, at the age of 9 and a half. He participated in several tournaments, earning a place at the Detroit Nationals, where he placed third in board breaking.
After moving to Columbus, he was accepted to Eastmoor Academy, where he excelled. He was chosen to participate in the Law and Leadership program, volunteered with KidsLinked and worked on the security team with his grandfather at his church when he was visiting Warren.
He leaves behind his mother, Michele; her beloved father figure, Stuart Clayborn; his sister, MiKayla Peterson; brother, Michon Peterson; grandparents, Richard and Theresa Biggs; his uncle, Darren Biggs of Lordstown; cousin, Christopher Biggs of Lordstown; his aunt, Leslie (John) Wilton of Cleveland; cousins, Abbey and Luke Wilson; and many other second and third cousins, too numerous to mention.
A memorial celebration of Devon’s life will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Warren First Church of the Nazarene, 4179 Parkman Road NW, Warren, where a Christian service will follow at 3:00 pm as we celebrate the life of Devon Biggs. All guests will be invited, if they are led, to share thoughts, memories and funny Devon stories. Services will be conducted by Pastor Brian Daniels.
In lieu of flowers, a fund will be set up, in Devon’s name, to be implemented at a future date, focusing on the dangers of distracted driving and convincing schools to change the running routes of their track teams. This senseless tragedy must never happen again.
