On May 4th and 5th, the Warren FFA attended the Ohio State FFA Convention in Columbus with 35 FFA members.
During the Convention, the chapter was recognized on stage during each session. During the first session, Warren had member Ryace Boyer walk across the stage in recognition of charitable donations. This honor is given to each Ohio chapter that donates more than $500 to its community.
In the next session, the chapter saw State Proficiency finalist Launa Ireland, in the Equine Science – Entrepreneurship category, take third place on stage. The chapter was also recognized as a Gold Rated Chapter, for outstanding service to the community, chapter and leadership. We are in the top 10% of FFA chapters in the state of Ohio!
At the evening session on Thursday, May 4, the chapter cheered on member Haley Grace Bolden for her competition in outdoor recreation, where she placed second in the state. Tessa Haffner placed second in the organic farming area, she was also named state champion in the specialty crop production area! On Friday, May 5th, the chapter had three chapter officers receive gold ratings at the state level and walk the stage. Congratulations to members: Launa Ireland/Trent Hamrick — Reporter, Christopher Burdiss — Treasurer, and Sophie Gilliland — Secretary.
That afternoon members enjoyed Top Golf before returning for the final session. The last session of the 95th Ohio FFA Convention saw record attendance.
Warren had 7 FFA State Degree recipients walk across the stage as a result of her hard work. The state degree requires 25 hours of community service, $2,500 earned and invested in a supervised agricultural experience, and eight FFA activities above the chapter level. Congratulations to Christopher Burdiss, Trent Hamrick, Morgan Hamrick, Sophie Gilliland, Colten Gilliland, Devin Cook and Steven Anderson
The Warren FFA had a very successful state convention and looks forward to continued success within the program.
