This is an update from Atherton Police Commander Dan Larsen on the police incident described in this article.
“Atherton PD was dispatched to MA following a call for service when a subject was reported to have pushed a school administrator against a wall and yelled homophobic slurs at him. Instead of cooperating, the subject walked away from police and resisted. Officers at the scene grabbed the subject’s shirt to prevent him from fleeing and the subject continued to walk away and fell to the ground. Once on the ground, officers handcuffed him . The subject is being charged with assault on a school official and a hate crime. What was captured on video is the end of the incident.”
Update, May 3: The police department released more information about this incident. According to their news release, “This incident is being reviewed to ensure that the actions of the officers involved were lawful and in compliance with Police Department policy and procedures.” Read the full news here.
