YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A Ford truck burst into flames on Fourth Avenue in front of Pizza Hut Wednesday afternoon while the driver was inside.
The Yuma Fire and Police Department responded to the scene shortly before 2:30 p.m
The Yuma Police Department (YPD) says people at the Circle K on the corner of West 18th Street received a disturbance from the car owner notifying him that his truck was on fire.
“It wasn’t until he noticed and smelled the burning rubber coming that he realized his truck was on fire. He pulled over, stopped, got out of the truck and was looking for something to put out the fire until it was too late and his truck caught fire,” YPD Traffic Investigator Xena Sanchez stated.
The owner told YPD that the gas line under the hood must have broken and there were no problems with his truck before.
No one was injured.
The fire was quickly extinguished and Fourth Avenue was reopened within 30 minutes.
