US President Joe Biden has accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of committing genocide in Ukraine.
Mr Biden said the Russian president was trying to ”wipe out the idea of even being able to be Ukrainian”.
The US president first made the comments during a speech about surging inflation, and later confirmed his remarks.
The Biden administration has previously stopped short of describing civilian killings in Ukraine as ”genocide”, but has accused Mr Putin of war crimes.
