Nausea for all the political size | News, Sports, Employment

Dear EDITOR:

I had to laugh when I saw an article about Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman “blasting” Norfolk Southern over the latest train derailment in New Castle, as if the train driver wanted to own this derailment?

My father worked for the PRR, Penn-Central and Conrail Railroad for 45 years. I can recall numerous times in the 1960s and 1970s when my father would go for days at a time to attend train derailments in Ohio and Pennsylvania. This is nothing new!

Today, thanks to social media, everyday events are a big deal. Just like roads and highways that are far from perfect that sometimes cause accidents, there are thousands of miles of railroad tracks that must be constantly maintained and repaired. While I agree that more safety protocols need to be put in place for our railways, especially after the disaster in East Palestine, the “grand posturing” of all our politicians is becoming sickening to watch and/ or read Just get all the affected parties together in a room and come up with a solution.

Act like adults. It’s enough!
