STOUGHTON, Mass. – Police are continuing to investigate an apparent road rage incident that ended in a shooting and crash in Stoughton Wednesday night.

Officers responding to a report of a crash at the intersection of Plain and West streets around 9:15 p.m. learned that a vehicle had an occupant who had been shot, according to the Stoughton Police Department.

A shot was fired from a black sedan and struck the driver of a white SUV, police said. A third vehicle unrelated to the incident was involved in the accident.

A total of five people were taken to the hospital, including the shooting victim. All have since been treated and released.

“Part of the investigation is to determine exactly where the incident involving the firearm took place,” Stoughton Deputy Chief Brian Holmes said.

Holmes noted that investigators believe the incident stemmed from an encounter at a convenience store in Canton.

As of Thursday afternoon, no arrests had been made in the incident.

Holmes asked area residents and businesses with surveillance cameras to share video as detectives continue to investigate the shooting and crash.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
