Alert: Weather advisory for Shasta County for Thursday night

Update, 6:50 p.m., May 25: The National Weather Service in Sacramento says showers and thunderstorms continue in Shasta County.

According to the NWS, thunderstorms are expected to be over Red Bluff in the next half hour and could include brief, heavy rain and small hail.

Break, 6:20 p.m., May 25 – The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a special weather statement for areas of Shasta County Thursday night.

According to the NWS, people in Shasta Lake, Shasta Dam, Whiskeytown Lake and surrounding areas may experience gusty winds of up to 40 mph, along with half-inch hail, lightning and localized very heavy rain.

The NWS says boaters in Whiskeytown and Shasta Lake should seek safe harbor and move to shelter. SWS runs until 6:45pm on Thursday night.
