Man shot while suspects were breaking into vehicle; victim fired back, police say

SAN ANTONIO – A man heard the sounds of his car being broken into, and when he went outside, the suspects shot him, the San Antonio Police Department said.

The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday in the 3600 block of Fairmeadows Street on the city’s south side.

Police said the suspects fired at the man and he was hit in the lower abdomen. The man, however, pulled out a gun and also fired, possibly hitting them.

SAPD searched the area but did not find the suspects. The only description provided was that they were in a dark colored sedan.

The victim was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition.

No other details were provided.
