FRAMINGHAM, Mass. — A house was destroyed and a cat is missing after a fire on Rhiner Street in Framingham on Memorial Day, firefighters said.
“The house is a total loss,” Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher said in a statement Monday.
No injuries were reported. An elderly man was displaced but has family to stay with, Dutcher said.
A neighbor called the fire department about 1:45 p.m. Monday to report the fire at 19 Rhiner St., Dutcher said. The street is off the water street.
When firefighters arrived, they found “heavy fire that was visible from the front and rear upon arrival,” Dutcher said.
“The crews did an excellent job pushing to put the fire out,” Dutcher said.
Investigators were still searching for the family’s pet after the fire.
“We’re still looking for a missing cat,” Dutcher said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
