Woman in her 90s dies after car hits utility pole in Mandarin – Action News Jax

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a woman died in a crash on Old St. Augustine Road early Friday.

According to detectives, around 3:30 a.m., a four-door sedan was traveling southbound on Old St. Augustine Road. for an unknown reason, when it passed Loretto road, the driver lost control and hit a utility pole.

The front seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and back seat passenger were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

The driver and front seat passenger were in their 90s. The backseat passenger was in his 40s.

This crash marks the 73rd death in Duval County this year. JSO is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Traffic in the area will be delayed for another hour or two. The traffic light is out because the utility pole was hit, so JSO will be directing traffic until JEA restores power.
