Firefighters Battle Overnight Fire At Tulsa Church

An investigation is underway Friday morning after a fire broke out at a Tulsa church overnight.

Tulsa firefighters say they were called to the scene near East 21st Street and South 145th East Avenue shortly before 11pm Friday night.

When firefighters said when they arrived, they saw heavy flames shooting from the roof of the church and called for additional help.

Andy Little of the Tulsa Fire Department says firefighters called five engines and three ladder trucks.

Firefighters say the overnight blaze destroyed part of the church, but crews were able to save most of it.

“When they set up to do that initial attack and the second when they set up was more of an exposure control in case the first structure was fully involved and started to spread, they could protect that other building and they did, so we’re grateful to at least be able to save some of that property,” said Andy Little.

Firefighters searched the area several times and say they found no one inside.

The cause remains under investigation.
