Eden Hazard’s Real Madrid nightmare will finally end after both sides agreed to terminate his contract on Saturday.
The Belgian winger had failed to live up to expectations since joining the club from Chelsea in 2019 and made just six appearances in the Spanish top flight this year.
In a statement on their website, the club said: “Real Madrid CF and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will leave the club from 30 June 2023.
‘Eden Hazard has been part of our club for four seasons, in which he has won 8 titles: 1 European Cup, 1 Club World Cup, 1 European Super Cup, 2 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 2 Super Cups Spain
“Real Madrid would like to express its affection for Eden Hazard and wish him and his whole family the best of luck in this new stage.”

The winger played just six games for Carlo Ancelotti’s side throughout the season
Much was expected of the exciting Belgian talent, but with just seven goals in four years, it’s fair to say he has struggled in Spain.
With such a poor return from his 76 appearances for Los Blancos, it is understandable that the Spanish giants have decided to let him leave for free.
It is an unfortunate end to his Madrid career to have become the club’s record signing following his move from Chelsea for a fee that could have risen to £150m.
Reports from The Athletic suggest retirement could be “an option” for the 32-year-old.
Having struggled with injuries in recent years, it’s no wonder some teams are reluctant to take another chance on the Belgian.
The 32-year-old missed 78 games through injury during his four years at the Spanish giants.
During his four years in Spain, Hazard missed 78 games through injury with ankle injuries and hamstring problems the most prominent issues.
As noted in the club’s farewell statement for Hazard, the Belgian won eight trophies during his time at Madrid, but played a small role in all of them.
There can be a lot of disappointment when we look back on Hazard’s time in Spain given the drop in performance levels from his time at Chelsea.
During seven years at Stamford Bridge, the Belgian registered 110 goals and 92 assists in 352 appearances and dazzled fans with his antics on the west London pitch.
