A boy is in serious condition after being hit by a car in north Houston, authorities say.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote on Twitter that a 5-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in a major crash Saturday night at 1499 Gears Road near Trickey Road.

Gonzalez said the vehicle that hit the boy fled, but has since been located.
Gears Road east of Trickey Road was closed after the wreck.
